TOPIC: Cold weather recipes

Cold weather recipes 3 years 10 months ago #15006

Since we're all snowed in and bound to be cooking some good comfort food. Mind if I ask ya'll to post some of the things your having for dinner on these cold nights? Ya.... I've got cabin fever.

Cabin fever: yikes.

How about chili and cornbread?

Planned ahead. Heard about the cold weather (but not the snow) on Monday and cooked HUGE pot of HC stew.

Been eating on that with cornbread and fresh onions every day. Now, got to get to store for more pickles and onions to finish pot.

Got calls from 3 different Sulphur Springs residents who are now visiting here in Honolulu... met them in Waikiki, talked about the bad weather and snow, and had Korean BBQ ribs, crab cakes, won-ton, & pupu chicken wings.... I can't spell the names of the adult beverages.

Stan: How much fun is that! Can just picture ya'll sitting around at a Tiki Bar and swapping stories.

Have you been to Duke's on Sunday? ;)

How did you know? Duke's at the Outrigger on a Friday... 45 minute wait so we went up stairs to the Hula Grill.

Nothing better on a cold day than Hopkins County Stew. After 40 years I still can't get use to Corn Bread being light and sweet like cake though.
Having cabbage and macaroni noodles in the stew isn't bad.

I love Duke's. Anytime. And Henry Kapono. And Jake Shimabukuro. And, of course, a little bit of Bruddah Iz ... Got to see Henry with Jimmy Buffett several years ago. One night on Oahu and then at the Maui Cultural Arts Center. Buffett shows since those have seemed lacking. Wonder why? :-)

We thank you for the hospitality, Stan. All those appetizers and beverages were very good. The weather sure beat what we left. Although, it isn't too bad today.
