Got this from a friend of mine......
INTERESTING Haven't personally tried it but it seems
worth passing on. Have any of you heard of this?

VICKS VapoRub

Interesting, we'll try it for sure. I kind of like the way it smells anyway

Man. I'm going to try that, too, the next time I'm coughing.

Thanks for the great tip!

Another funny (but helpful) tip about VICKS is you can use it to ease ear infections. My husband gets ear infections in the cold wind and I put vicks on a cotton ball and put it in his ear. It will ease the pain everytime! Its goofy, but try it! My son had tubes put in his ears when he was little and still got ear infections, so I remembered my grandparents doing this and I tried it and he slept soundly and was much better the next day. I think it has something to do with the vapors opening up the ear canal and letting the fluid drain. Not real sure but it works!

The 3 most absorbant places are the soles of the feet, the palms of the hands and the forehead.

Another tip to ward off mosquitos ect. is to place minced garlic in your shoes. I will absorb to the extent that you can smell it on your breath. As it gets to your pores the insects are repelled.

I will most definitely not put garlic in my shoes and let it absorb into my pores. But I've heard that if you take a garlic capsule a day it's supposed to do the same thing.

The garlic thing brings back a funny (not a the time, though) memory. My family went to a destination wedding in Vegas when my oldest son was 2. We were eating at a restaurant that served these huge cloves of roasted garlic. My mother fed the garlic to my son and my son stunk for days!! I did ward off the bugs, and everyone else, for a few days. :P

I'll have to try the Vicks on the feet.

I got an e-mail about this awhile back, so I did try it (the Vaporub on the feet--not the garlic!) on my young daughter who has terrible coughs whenever she's congested.

I think it might have helped, but not 100%. It didn't seem to last all night, tho. When I was little, we all got a dose of VapoRub on the chest every time we had a cough. YUKKKKY!! I think it's the vapors opening up your nasal passages.

Vicks on the soles of my feet has worked best when I have had one of those little hacky coughs that keep me awake, not the serious congested-type of cough. Don't forget to put socks on over the Vicks.

Just got a PM from one of my HS classmates...
She said she used Vicks for chapped lips.
:S
Said she put it on her lips every night before going to bed.

Well, on their honeymoon, her new husband put a stop to that right quick!

My parents are huge fans of VICKS VapoRub. Guess maybe that has led to me having an avoidance of ever taking actual meds. IDK. Anyways, I suffered from some pretty difficult ear aches so they would put VICKS on a cottonball and put it into my ears. To this day I still use this method. And with having to run the heater so much this season we even use a humdifier with VICKS liquid solution in it just to keep those healthy vibes going.
Thanks for sharing...
