Who am I?

I first found life in 1939, when Chicago-based Montgomery Ward company commissioned an employee, Robert L. May, to create a coloring book to use as Christmas gifts for children who came to its department stores. My story was first printed commercially in 1947 and Gene Autry immortalized me in a song in 1949. To this day, I am one of the biggest TV stars in the world — especially every December.

Carrey's 'Yes Man' earns aye vote with $18M debut

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Movie audiences greeted Jim Carrey and Will Smith with a lukewarm "yes' as snowstorms undermined weekend debuts from both stars.

Carrey's comedy "Yes Man" opened at No. 1 with $18.2 million in ticket sales, while Smith's drama "Seven Pounds" came in second with $16 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.

Publicist Howard Bragman confirmed Thursday that the TV icon and his wife have no plans to move from their home, which has been facing foreclosure for nine months.

Brancato jury reports deadlock, resuming Friday

NEW YORK (AP) — The jury hearing the Lillo Brancato second-degree murder case says it's deadlocked 11-1.

Jurors returned home and were expected to resume deliberations Friday.

A mistrial was avoided earlier Thursday after it was discovered a juror had been taking notes on testimony and doing research on the case at home.
