LOS ANGELES (AP) — Hollywood had a happy holiday with a huge Christmas weekend as movies from Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson, Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett and Adam Sandler all opened strongly.

Pols prize late-night and comedy show appearances

NEW YORK (AP) — It proved to be more than a joke when David Letterman said in late September that "the road to the White House runs through me."

Presidential candidates found late-night comedy shows a particularly valuable asset during the 2008 campaign, making more than four times the number of on-set appearances with Letterman, Jay Leno, Jon Stewart and the crowd than the 2004 contenders did, some new research has found.

Who am I?

I first found life in 1939, when Chicago-based Montgomery Ward company commissioned an employee, Robert L. May, to create a coloring book to use as Christmas gifts for children who came to its department stores. My story was first printed commercially in 1947 and Gene Autry immortalized me in a song in 1949. To this day, I am one of the biggest TV stars in the world — especially every December.
