The Wildcats keep climbing to new heights, and they did it Friday night with a pulse-pounding 52-47 victory over Rockwall Heath to win the first regional championship in school history. The Wildcat defense came up with four turnovers, and all were pivotal, while Ty Rollison was superb again with five touchdown passes and a TD run.

The first rain drops hit the tin roof like a handful of shot thrown on a metal floor. Slowly at first, then more steady, the rain was sounding more like it was here to stay with each passing minute. This would be our first true water test of our new accommodations. The results were as wet as a car wash in April in Seattle.

It was my pleasure to cover the Sulphur Springs 42-21 win over Denison in Texas Stadium Friday. It was my first trip to that historic field in 10 years. I am so glad I got to see it during its final year of use.

Leon Russell: Oldie, but soooo goody

 

I was on my way home yesterday, listening to the Sinatra station on XM. Jazz guitarist George Benson's cover of Leon Russell’s “This Masquerade” came on and brought back a lot of memories. While I like George Benson and have several of his CDs, I love Leon Russell.
