This Saturday’s Main Street Farmers’ Market promises to be the cheesiest ever — and we mean that in a good way. In fact, it should be a cheese-lover’s paradise at the J.R. Fisher booth this week as the Reilly Springs farming family starts offering three kinds of cheddar and several other varieties of dairy products.

County judge issues ‘Earth Day’ proclamation

A proclamation was issued this morning designating today as “Earth Day 2010” in Hopkins County, a decree that comes just before a county-wide clean-up. The pronouncement by Hopkins County Judge Cletis Millsap, echoing countless other similar declarations around the world, was also made as the county moves to install an array of solar panels at its Civic Center.


Men to fight cancer in tiaras and sashes in Queen of Relay contest

With barely a week to go until the 7 p.m. kickoff of the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Hopkins County on April 30 at the Sulphur Springs Middle School Track, committee members and teams are working extra hard to ensure everything is in place and ready for the annual fundraiser.


Amanda Pruitt to sing at Hopkins County Relay for Life

Pruitt must like to keep busy. Her role as wife, mother, college student and entertainer takes up most of her attention, but she has set aside time to entertain at this year’s Relay for Life. Pruitt will take the stage from midnight until 12:15 Saturday morning, May 1.
