Siren tests slated at noon Wednesday

When you hear the outdoor warning sirens sounding Wednesday, don’t be alarmed — unless it looks really dark outside. Sulphur Springs Police Department plans to test the civil defense or “outdoor warning” sirens around noon Wednesday, Feb 3, to make sure they are in good working condition and as a practice drill for officials. City emergency management officials encourage city residents to take the opportunity during that time to practice what they would do in the event of an actual emergency. In the event the weather is overcast, rainy or otherwise bad, the siren testing will be postponed, likely until the next Wednesday, so it won’t be confused as a true alert.
