Wildcats make an expensive splash with Calipari

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — John Calipari told the Kentucky faithful that he is "humbled and excited" to lead such a "storied program" Wednesday when he was introduced as the Wildcats' basketball coach.

And though Calipari cautioned the Kentucky faithful that he was not the "grand poobah" or the "emperor", he received a king's ransom to leave Memphis.


North Carolina leaves Oklahoma behind 72-60

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Tyler Hansbrough deferred to his teammates — just as he'd hinted he might.

This was no one-on-one matchup down low. Instead, North Carolina rolled past Blake Griffin and Oklahoma with a total team effort.

Baylor hangs on to beat UTSA without Kim Mulkey

 LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Kim Mulkey tells her Baylor players they can win without her.

She's right.

The second-seeded Bears and assistant coach Leon Barmore pulled out a tight NCAA first-round game in overtime, beating Texas-San Antonio 87-82 on Sunday night.
