Cavs star James leads All-NBA first team

NEW YORK (AP) — LeBron James is a unanimous selection to the All-NBA team after leading the Cavaliers to a franchise-record for wins and a pair of playoff sweeps.

Joining him on the first team are Dwyane Wade of the Heat, Kobe Bryant of the Lakers, Dirk Nowitzki of the Mavericks and Dwight Howard of the Magic.

DALLAS (AP) — Down by 14 and playing listlessly, the Dallas Mavericks sure looked ready to call it a season.

Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavs awoke from their early-game slumber with rally after rally, getting close or even tied yet unable to get ahead until the former MVP made a tough, high-arching shot with 1:05 left. Having worked so hard for the lead, they weren't about to give it back, pulling out a 119-117 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Monday night to avoing being swept.


Former Dallas Cowboys QB arrested in Abilene

ABILENE, Texas (AP) — Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Quincy Carter is free on bond after his arrest in Abilene.

Abilene police Sgt. Keith Shackleford said the former Georgia Bulldog was arrested Sunday night on a probation violation warrant from Dallas County. The violation arose from a February arrest in South Texas for alleged drunken driving.


Mike Modano is coming back for his 20th NHL season.

            A month after the Dallas Stars ended their season without a playoff berth, and Modano said he would take some time to ponder if he would retire, the highest-scoring U.S.-born player in NHL history said Monday he would play in 2009-10.
