Hogs ends SC win streak

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — South Carolina's record NCAA tournament winning streak is over. The Gamecocks' quest for a third straight national championship is not.
Ryne Stanek and Barrett Astin combined on a four-hitter, and Arkansas beat South Carolina 2-1 at the College World Series on Monday night. It was the Gamecocks' first loss in the national tournament in 23 games.

Rangers rally past Astros

ARLINGTON (AP) — The Texas Rangers are getting used to the consistently good starts Colby Lewis has been giving them lately.
Lewis gave up three hits and walked one while striking out 10 in seven innings, Ian Kinsler had a three-run triple and Adrian Beltre hit a two-run homer in a seven-run sixth inning, and the Rangers beat the Houston Astros 9-3 on Sunday.

Earnhardt Jr.'s win caps career revival

BROOKLYN, Mich. (AP) — Dale Earnhardt Jr. had finally reached Victory Lane again, ending one of the longest stretches between wins in Sprint Cup history.
He had gone 143 races without finishing first — but not all of those defeats ended in failure. Over the last couple years, Earnhardt has methodically worked his way back among NASCAR's elite, to the point where his victory at Michigan International Speedway seemed almost inevitable.

Tomlinson to call it quits after 11 NFL seasons

SAN DIEGO (AP) — LaDainian Tomlinson's brilliant NFL career will officially end when he ceremoniously rejoins the San Diego Chargers for a day.
The Chargers said Sunday that Tomlinson, who was the NFL MVP in 2006 with San Diego and is the fifth-leading rusher in league history, will re-sign with the team on Monday and then announce his retirement.
