Mavs sweep Lakers for season

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Tyson Chandler gave a kind smirk when he learned that the Dallas Mavericks had just swept a four-game season series with the Los Angeles Lakers for the first time in franchise history.

"Uh, the Lakers aren't having the best of seasons," he said. "They've had some injuries."

Rangers lose game, more players to injury

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Derek Holland never looked right on the mound for the Texas Rangers in their home opener. Now he won't be back there for at least six weeks — and maybe more.

Holland left the 5-1 loss to the Houston Astros after only one inning Friday with tightness in the back of his shoulder that was later diagnosed as a strained subscapularis muscle.
