Ferguson shoots 826, Hague 812; in bowling action

For the first time in its 60 year history, Classic Lanes has recorded two 800 series in the same week.

In fact, both sets were rolled on the same night. The higher of the two, was Casey Ferguson’s 826, followed by Allan Hague’s 812. It isn’t often that one bowls as well as Allan did, and still lose; but he still gets an 800 series ring, and that’s all that counts, this according to Mr. Hague.

"Yes, we all had a good time the last time I was in the Alamodome," Y'Barbo said of the 69-49 win over Dayton in 2008 which secured the Class 4A Division II title for the Wildcats.


SS Golf MVPs

Sulphur Springs Lady Cat golf coach Steve Carter presented the MVP award to Miranda Conway. Conway will be attending Texarkana College on a golf scholarship.

Co-ed softball

tournament set

The Sulphur Springs Panthers Football and Cheerleading Association will be hosting the second annual co-ed softball tournament July 24 at Coleman Park.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the location. Entry fee is $130 per team. Trophies will be awarded.


Lee top winner in team roping -- College quarterback also throws an accurate lasso from horseback

If Colton Lee wasn’t such a good quarterback, he might just keep team roping. The money is sure good.

Lee continues to make the right calls and recently picked up $5,000 and a custom saddle for his work team roping at the Tuley Productions of the July Fourth Extravaganza at the Somervell County Expo where he teamed with Tico Gutierrez for first place honors and the championship in the No. 10 division at the two-day Glen Rose team roping competition. Gutierrez was paid with him at the event which featured more than 1,500 competitors.
