A sticky 4-pin may have cost Glen Taylor a perfect game, but he wasn’t complaining after league play in the Thursday Men’s Commercial league on April 9.

GRAND SALINE — The District 13-2A track meet will be held on Wednesday with field events and preliminary running events and will follow on Thursday with the final running events at 6 p.m. at Grand Saline.

MG Hornets Sting Campbell

Miller Grove Hornet senior pitcher Jordan Lennon throws to the plate against the Campbell Indians in recent baseball play at Miller Grove. The Hornets put the sting to the Indians will a 14-4 victory. The next action will be Tuesday with a road game at North Hopkins at 4:30 p.m.

Cumby track results posted

LINDSAY — The Cumby track teams competed against 13 District 17-1A schools on Thursday, April 9. The Cumby Lady Trojans placed fourth overall with 64 points with the host team taking first with 188 points, Era was second, and Muenster was third.

The Trojan varsity team scored 15 points with runners Brandon Heer and Timmy Cook, and Trevor Hunter competed for the JV boys team. Gary Parrish is the head track coach for Cumby.

Varsity girls division

Long jump — 2. Laura Oviedo, 15-5.5 (advancing to area); 5. Savanah Neal, 15-0

Triple jump — 2. Laura Oviedo, 33-9.75; 3. Savanah Neal, 32-9.5 (both advance to area)


North Hopkins teams take two wins

North Hopkins squads took recent wins over district rivals in baseball and softball competition.

In baseball action, North Hopkins scored 12 times off 12 hits as they whipped the Yantis Owls, 12-2.

Canyon Cockrum was the winning pitcher for North Hopkins.
