Lady Cats beat Gilmer; Wildcats in RC tourney

    The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats and Wildcats are both beginning basketball tournament action today at two different locations.
    The Lady Cats opened the Winnsboro Hoop Fest Thursday morning with a 20-point win over Gilmer.

    The following scores were reported from recent area basketball action.

Avery clips the
C.H.E.S.S. Knights, 50-40
    The C.H.E.S.S. Knight saw an early lead disappear as they fell 50-40 to Avery.
    Ben Holladay had 17 points and Austin McKim added 10 for the Knights.
    C.H.E.S.S. will play today vs. Miller Grove at 1:30 p.m. in the  Miller Grove Tournament. Friday, they face Dallas Life at 12:30 p.m.

    The Eagles had three players in double figures downing Union Hill, 64-27,
    Brayan Ramos and Ozzy Preciado had 13 each and Colton Clark scored a dozen.
    The Eagles took flight early, outscoring UH 19-5 in the first quarter.

    North Lamar extended their record to 2-0 for the year, beating Sulphur Springs 64-44 here Tuesday night.
    The visiting Panthers erupted for a 19-4 run in the third quarter to turn a close game into a runaway.
