Hawaiian shirts can be uplifting

    Some people see me coming while wearing an Hawaiian shirt and start giggling.
    Others wait until I get within earshot and cut loose a remark like “Did you come from the beach?” or “Do batteries come with that loud shirt?”
    Go ahead, it doesn’t bother me, in fact, I kind of like brightening up your day.

Cumby athletes 'all in' workout program

    CUMBY — Athletic director Tom Dracos is well on the way to building the strong program at Cumby dreamed about when he arrived.
    “When I first got here, we just had a 11 kids in the weight room. Now our summer exercise program is drawing 40 or more kids a day,” Dracos said.

Wildcat Booster Club seeks members

     The Sulphur Springs Wildcat Booster Club is looking to sign up new fans, parents and supporters as they holding their annual membership drive.
    “This is something we do this time of year to get people signed up before school starts back,” said Stacy Cody, Club director. “This is when we send out letters to all members and try to resign them and get new members.”
    The club is involved in several projects during the year and most recently were in charge of the All-Sports Banquet where awards were given to athletes in all sports conducted by the school.
    Cody said, “We have very good support from the community, both from individuals and businesses.”
    Current officers include David McCaig, president; Tory Humphries, vice-president; Corey Burgin, secretary with Cody and Craig Roberts serving as directors.
    Persons wanting to join can become members at different levels in the club.
    Membership dues for 2017-2018 are $10 and that amount will be consider a donation. Other programs include:
State Champion Wildcat (reserved parking)
$200 and above
Regional Final Wildcat, $150-199
District Champ Wildcat, $100-149
All-District Wildcat, $50-99
Code Blue Wildcat, $25-49
Team Wildcat, $10.
    To have your contributions in the 2017 Football Program they must be received by July 10.

    Cody said, “We are offering the reserve parking  feature for donations over $200. We’d like to have the responses back so we can continue to coordinate this program.”
    Cody said more than 120 individuals or businesses have contributed and they are seeking to increase this number.
    During the football season, meetomgs are held where team members watch the video of the previous week’s football game.
