Paris Junior College is offering a scholarship covering tuition for one summer class to high school seniors graduating this year. The summer scholarship is in addition to the recently announced $1 million in scholarships for the 2014-2015 academic year beginning with the fall semester.


India.Arie to speak and perform at A&M-Commerce

COMMERCE — Four-time Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter India.Arie will address the Texas A&M University-Commerce community as the featured presenter in the next installment of the William L. Mayo Prestigious Speaker Series. The event will be held in Ferguson Auditorium at 7 p.m. April 10 p.m. A private reception will follow.

Learning about Phi Theta Kappa
Students at Paris Junior College-Sulphur Springs Center who were invited to join Phi Theta Kappa attended New Member Orientation at the college campus this week. 8-week welding class slated in Commerce starting March 17

SULPHUR SPRINGS – Paris Junior College – Sulphur Springs Center will be offering an eight-week welding class to help meet the demand in the area for the specialty.

The course will be conducted in Commerce to provide a central location for students in the PJC service area. Classes will be held on Friday evenings and Saturdays.

“PJC is helping meet the needs of business and industry in the community by training new welders,” said Dr. Pamela Anglin, Paris Junior College president.

Dr. Anglin added that PJC is also helping students finish their degrees faster by offering online and face-to-face courses over the last half of the spring semester.

“If someone is considering attending college, a short course is a great way to get started,” she stated.

A number of other eight-week courses begin on March 17 and there is still time to sign up. Online courses include biology, criminal justice, drama English, geology, government, history, astronomy, psychology, sociology and speech.

Additional in-person classes include integrated reading and writing and camping.
