COMMERCE —The Texas A&M University-Commerce Office of Hispanic Outreach and Student Programs was recently chosen as a finalist for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s Star Award.


PJC offering professional training courses at SS campus

The Paris Junior College-Sulphur Springs Center Continuing Education Department is offering a number of professional training courses during the month of November including classes for healthcare workers, computer training and a safety course for flatbed truck haulers.

The classes will meet at PJC-Sulphur Springs campus located at 1202 West Houston St. For more information or to register, call 903-885-1232.

A nurse aide class will be offered from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, Nov. 3-Dec. 1, and the clinical meets Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Dec. 2-11. The class offers preparation for entry level nursing assistants.

ESL Classes offered this spring

 English as a Second Language classes, conducted by Paris Junior College, will continue through June 27.

Classes are being held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., and on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m.

Classes are conducted at Our Savior Lutheran Church, located at 1000 Texas Street in Sulphur Springs. For further information contact Sandi Dyer at 214-641-0727.


PJC invites GED graduates to celebrate with friends and family

Paris Junior College Adult Education and Family Literacy in pleased to announce the upcoming General Educational Development Graduation on Tuesday, May 6,  at 7 p.m. in the PJC Hunt Center in Paris.

Everyone who received his or her GED within the last year will be honored. The GED Graduation ceremony allows graduates the opportunity to walk across the stage in cap and gown regalia. There is no cost to participate.

This year’s graduation speaker will be Mr. Adam Teer, executive director of the nonprofit organization 211 CANHelp in Sulphur Springs.

A reception will take place afterwards to celebrate with friends and family members in attendance. Invitations have been mailed to anyone receiving a GED from the PJC Testing Center. However, if you have not received yours and would like to attend, please call the Adult Education and Family Literacy Office by Tuesday, April 30, to confirm your participation.
