Linda Petty reports that she and Mick started the new year off right with black eyed peas and cabbage on the first. Joining them for lunch were Rick and Judy Petty, Betty Lawson and Billy Joe Clayton of Tira; Ronnie, Amy, Mitchell and Macy Green of Cooper; and Fay Burns of Sulphur Springs.
On Sunday, Powell Vickery was surprised at Cross Spur Cowboy Church by all of his children. They all showed up for church, walked in and surprised him, and then went out to lunch. Those attending were Sherry Smiddy; Anna Hines; Jana Johnson; David Vickery; Steven, Cheryl, Madi, Bryson, Ethan and Owen Vickery; Chris Vickery was there and the rest of his family — Jenna, Ally, Brayden and Emma — came by for a little while; Shelley, Justin, Korbin, Graci, Tinley and Branson Adair; Bobby, Carley, Payton and Braley Vickery; Chanse Fite, Brandi, Cody, Aysha and Daylee; Tara and Mike Owens; Judy and Randy Roberts; and Lesley Owens. Powell said it was the best birthday ever!
Chip and I visited our son, Delayne Vaughn, in Waco on Thursday, and then drove to Conroe, where we stayed at the Piney Shores Resort on the lake. Larry and Dorothy Fitzgerald of Somerville (formerly from Tira) came on Friday afternoon and we enjoyed visiting, playing cards and Rummikub, and eating out. On Saturday the guys and gals went shopping in different directions, and then met for lunch, before Larry and Dorothy headed home. Chip and I spent another relaxing afternoon at the resort and returned home on Sunday.
I always need and appreciate input from my friends to help keep me informed of news in our community.
