Martha Payton reports, "The Tira Methodist Church will have a Candlelight Christmas Eve service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24. Everyone is invited to attend."
The Tira Community Christmas dinner was held last Saturday night and was a great success. Thanks to all who participated, prepared food and encouraged the young people to attend. Santa and two elves came by, which was very popular with the little children and the young at heart.
The Tira Christmas Party will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m. at the Community Center. We encourage everyone to make plans to come enjoy an evening of good food and fellowship. Brisket will be provided. Residents should bring sides and desserts. Santa Claus is scheduled to stop by to visit with the children. Also, we will be bringing canned goods (preferably gallon size) for the Meal-a-Day program in Sulphur Springs.
Tira City Council members will gather at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the Community Center for the regular quarterly meeting. Following the meeting the group will decorate the center for the community Christmas party. The public is always welcome and encouraged to attend.
We want to express our sympathy to the family of Mamie Lou (Weir) Reaves. Her funeral service was held at the Tira Methodist Church on Wednesday afternoon. The community provided a meal for the family at the Community Center, prior to the service. Please remember Lou's husband, Leroy, and the rest of her family in your prayers.
