PINE FOREST – The Bluecollar Bowhunters have done it again.

The second annual Texas Big Nasty Hog Contest sponsored by the BCB was a success, pinning winners and awards Saturday for the month-long bow hunting contest.

“We had around 50 or so people at the closing and lots of food prepared by volunteers,” reported Jared Brumley, BCB co-founder, from the Pine Forest Community Center. “There was over $6,400 dollars worth of prizes that were given away to the contestants.”

Texas Big Nasty Hog Contest wraps up with prizes

PICKTON – The Texas Big Nasty Hog Contest will wrap up with a closing ceremony held March 27 at 2 p.m. at Pine Forest Community Center.

The Bluecollar Bowhunters, second annual hosts of the TBNHC, will be announcing the results and winners of the recent month-long bow hunting contest.

The contest began on Saturday, Feb. 6 and spanned through Monday, March 8.

There will be food provided at the closing ceremony.

Toyota ShareLunker 486 comes from Lake Fork

ATHENS—Randy Williams of Staunton, Illinois, finally broke the ice: He caught Lake Fork’s first Toyota ShareLunker of the season on Tuesday, March 16.

The fish weighed 13.0 pounds and was caught in three feet of water on a Senko.

The good news for Lake Fork anglers was that the water temperature was 58 degrees. After unseasonably cold, cloudy weather, a few days of sunshine warmed the water and apparently encouraged bass to move to shallower water in preparation for spawning.

Tyler Armstrong bags 6-point buck

Tyler Armstrong, 10, killed this 6-point buck Dec. 19, 2009 while hunting in Mason, Texas with his dad, Toby with a .243 caliber rifle. The father-son team also killed a doe the same weekend.
