The Fourth of July Celebration put on by the Brashear Baptist Church was awesome. I do not know really where to start: food, praise music, video and fireworks. Everything was top notch.
I heard that they prepared 300 hamburgers and 300 hotdogs and not one was left. I myself sampled a wonderful hamburger and a few desserts.
The weather gave a little scare when the rain, hail and high winds came through; but the Lord cleared all of that out of here and left us with a beautiful, cool evening.
Special thanks to the committee who put it all together and I hear that they are already talking about doing it up better for next year. In my mind, they did it just right this year. A special thanks also to Karly Smith and Donna White on the video to honor our military, police, firemen and first responders.
Grasshoppers anyone? They are back with a vengeance. I have literally seen a full grown apple tree stripped of leaves within one day. My sympathies go to the farmers in our area who are trying to feed their herds. The first frost will not come soon enough. Last night, sitting out, all we could hear were grasshoppers in the brush.
Just want to give everyone time to clean closets and put a special date on your calendar. Clothes drive collection starts on Aug. 5 with the actual clothes drive sale on Aug. 24. This is a way to clean out and help others. Remember that everything will sell for 25 cents. This sale will be the weekend before school starts on the 27th.
The heat has come and we have been lucky up until now. Let us all pray for rain and the cool weather to come back. Remember to call me at 903.612.8806; email me at
; or just come on by County Road 1119. I will have lemonade or ice tea ready for a nice visit.
