Has anyone grown web feet yet? The rain just keeps on coming down. We had 4 inches on Tuesday. We have water over the driveway and parts of the road. Wonder how Donnie Martin got the bus down the road? Be careful, Donnie and all of the other bus drivers — you guys are transporting special cargo.

Brashear News for Oct. 8, 2009

Rain anyone? We have had a lot of rain lately and it sounds like we are in for some more. Take precautions, for we do not anyone to have to worry about flash flooding.

Next Tuesday, Oct. 13, do not forget the Senior Expo at New Beginnings Church. It begins at 9 a.m. and continues until noon. Free health screenings, flu shots, insurance questions answered, pre-need counseling, body composition checks, blood oxygen levels, foot checks for diabetics, and much more. We who are categorized as senior citizens need to take advantage of this program. Hope to see you there.

Happy belated birthday to cousin Carl Smith, 10/1; and to Donna Smith and Sarah Stout, 10/2;and  Zane Darling, 10/3. Happy birthday to the following: Jeff Baxter, 10/9; Allen Meadows, 10/10; Lucille Ratliff, 10/11; and Richard Woodall, 10/13.

Just returned from a camping trip to Arkansas; the leaves were just starting to turn up there. The weather was nice. Just a little rain. Loved the camping, but there is no place like home. We call Brashear “our little piece of heaven.”

Oct. 17 is a day to put on your calendar for the Cumby Telephone Cooperative Membership Meeting. Please stop by and say hello while you are there.

Time sure flies by fast, but always remember to take the time to say thank you to everyone who has been nice to you lately. They are some basic rules to life. “Please” and “thank you” are two that must be used more often in today's world. I guess I will get off of my soapbox now.
