BRASHEAR NEWS March 10, 2017

I received a call from Craig Buck this week and he wanted to give me some information about a local Brashear meeting. This will be an informational meeting about the possibility of Brashear incorporating. This meeting will be held on March 25 at the Brashear Baptist Church's Family Life Building at 5 p.m. Judge Newsom will be the moderator. This is a time to come with questions and there will be many people there to help you get answers. Please come and find out how this could affect you.

The incorporating is a process. There are several steps that will need to be followed. Come and see and find out what this means for Brashear. Bring your questions.

It’s garden planting time. Tom has been busy with trying to get everything into the ground before the rain. We do need some rain though.

I cannot believe how fast this year is going; spring break is next week. Please watch out for kids on the roads.

Our church lost an angel this past week, Kellene Dawson. She will be missed for her sweet smile.

Our Divorce Care support group started up this week and want to remind those who are struggling with divorce or separation to please try to come. We meet at First United Methodist Church in Sulphur Springs at 6 p.m. on Wednesdays in the basement. Follow the signs.

Remember to be kind to everyone you meet. Until next week, let me know if you would like to share with us your news by emailing me at youngdede60 @gmail.com; call me at 903-612-8806; or just stop by County Road 1119 look for Tom's garden.

Good day to everyone. Today is a beautiful morning as I watch the sun come up on the frost covered pasture. God is good! You know the rest.

November is here. Where is the cooler weather? I love fall with all of the changes, but really want cooler weather. Tom is still picking the garden: okra, bell peppers, peppers, swiss chard and mustard greens. I think he is ready to just plow it under.

BRASHEAR NEWS Oct. 21, 2016

Has anyone else seen a lot of grasshoppers lately? We are seeing more now than we did all summer. We thought we would be through with them by now. At least, they have not been bothering the garden. We are still getting mustard greens, bell peppers, cucumbers, pear tomatoes and, of course, okra. We have some friends that hate to see us coming … with okra in the sack. Yep!

It’s Fall Festival time. We are cooking stew this year. Come by and see us at Site #150. This has become a fun family event for the Youngs. Hope everyone is enjoying this cool weather for the stew contest too.

A big shout out to our road crew from Precinct 1 for resurfacing County Road 1117. It is so nice. Thanks.

We saw the geese going over about two weeks ago. Let's hope the cool weather stays around for a while.

Did anyone see that mountain lion that was reported on FM 3389 this week? Take care of your small pets. Who knows what is out there in our part of the country.

Sorry about no news for a while and this being so short. Remember to call me at 903-612-8806; email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ; or drop by County Road 1119 for a visit. Thank you.
