Hopkins County spared major storm damage

Despite some minor wind damages like those normally associated with a thunderstorm, and a few waves of hail which ranged in size from pea to baseball sized, Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County were left relatively unscathed by the tornadoes which swept across Northeast Texas Sunday evening, city and county officials reported Monday morning.

The Hopkins County grand jury signed more than a dozen indictments during it’s October session. Half of the defendants named were accused in at least two cases.

Early voting continues through Friday

By midday Monday almost 10 percent of Hopkins County’s 21,600 registered voters had cast ballots  early for the Nov. 2 General Election.
