Vietnam War Del Francis bikes to U.S. Capitol

Del Francis jumped on his bicycle in June to begin the 1,250 mile journey from Sulphur Springs to Washington, D.C., to raise recognition for his 74  military brothers who were killed during the Vietnam War. Monday morning, he will be riding the last 10 miles, and will find out if his trip is a success. He will meet with senators and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund representatives with one goal:?putting the names of the men who died on the USS Frank E. Evans on the memorial wall.

Trustees approve policy prohibiting DAEP students from riding bus

Trustees for Sulphur Springs schools this week approved a Student Code of Conduct for the 2016-17 school year, complete with an additional consideration in discipline situations and transportation policy for students sent to Disciplinary Alternative Education Program. They also received for review elementary, middle and high schools student handbooks and an employee handbook.

FUMC hosts clothing sale Saturday

First United Methodist Church is hosting a back to school clothing sale inside its gym this Saturday. From clothing, backpacks to shoes, every item will only be 25-cents. Then after the sale, all remaining clothes will be donated to organizations around the community.
