    Let freedom ring this weekend across Hopkins County! 

    In 1865, more than 250,000 African Americans were illegally enslaved in Texas. In June, Major General Gordon Granger landed in Galveston with a letter destined to change the course of history. That inspirational moment of freedom is being honored this Saturday in Pacific Park with the annual Juneteenth Celebration.

Sulphur Springs Independent School District Board of Trustees, at their regular monthly board meeting on July 11, will be asked to accept a bid and adopt an order authorizing issuance of $7.5 million in maintenance tax credits designated for improvements at Gerald Prim Stadium, a new baseball field and improvements at the softball field.
