Saltillo Independent School District is gearing up for the annualhomecoming and senior night activities on Friday, Feb. 5 with a week’s worth of celebratory activities planned for Spirit Week and the announcement of the Homecoming Court.


Muddy Jake’s holding fundraiser for woman fighting cancer

Reggie Lynn Hawkins received horrifying news during the holiday season, that she has stage four cancer. Hearing this news, Muddy Jake’s and the Sulphur Springs community have banded together to help support Hawkins through this difficult situation by jointly fighting against the deadly disease with her. 


13 qualify for state BPA contest, 15 named as alternates

Sulphur Springs High School will be well represented at the Texas Business Professionals of America Leadership Conference in Corpus Christi in March. Thirteen students qualified to compete at state based on their top finishes either in individual or team events at the regional BPA Leadership Conference, and 15 students were named as state alternates as either part of a team or individually.


Morgan Joslin shares rocketry passion with CAP cadets

For Morgan Joslin, Civil Air Patrol cadet lieutenant colonel and squadron commander, building model rockets has been a life-long passion. This weekend, he will be teaching CAP cadets to launch 20 rockets more than 1,000 feet into the sky above Sulphur Springs Municipal Airport. 


Monday is deadline for voter registration

Monday, Feb. 1, is the last day in which a person can register to vote in the March 1 primary election, according to Debbie Jenkins, Hopkins County tax assessor-collector and voter registrar.
