Birthright United Methodist Church is cooking dinner on Thanksgiving Day for those in the Birthright and North Hopkins areas who are in need of a holiday meal. And there will be no charge for this traditional dinner.

A Sulphur Springs man learned the hard way Monday that barriers marking closed roads are there for a reason; the “road closed” barricades on FM 71 west at the Hopkins-Delta  County line, he soon learned, are to prevent vehicles and the people in them from becoming trapped in a flood.
