Christmas season officially opens in downtown this weekend

The Christmas season opens in downtown Sulphur Springs Friday evening with a number of activities around the square, including the 5:30 p.m. lighting of the Christmas tree.

Each year, a community assessment survey is conducted and the results compiled to show who is being served, what needs are being met and what needs have yet to be addressed by Sulphur Springs Independent School District’s Head Start program.

Good Kids Doing Unselfish Things

Kendall Wallace, Mackenzie Moore, Sarah Womack and Taylor Harden celebrated their 13th birthdays recently at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center. Forgoing presents for themselves, the girls asked guests to bring presents for a teen-age boy or girl which were then donated to the Empty Stocking.
