Katie, Katie: How does your garden grow?

Katie Freeman Sinclair stands in her garden Friday next to tomato plants that have grown almost three feet tall since she planted them two months ago. Sinclair, 93, and her late husband Louis “Buddy” Sinclair are an important part of the Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County communities.

Texas-sized musical chairs

Sulphur Springs Middle School hosted a giant game of musical chairs for the Partners Academically Challenging Experiences fundraiser Sunday at Gerald Prim Stadium. Over 127 people joined in for the largest game of musical chairs in Hopkins County. The last person standing was Sydni Hawkins, a fourth grader at Travis Elementary.

Cub Scouts honor Earth Day

Cub Scouts Pack 77 planted an oak tree on the Bowie Elementary School playground in honor of Earth Day Tuesday. Principal Carol Worsham and  pack leaders assisted the first through fourth grade boys in the Earth Day activity. The tree was donated by Brad and Terry Morris, parents of third grade scout, Cameron Morris.

Good Kids Doing Good Things

Several Sulphur Springs High School National Honor Society members read to elementary school students throughout the district on April 21.  Pictured are Jentri Broumley, Ben Barrows, Katie Dodd and Shelby Belzinger, who  read to second graders in Rhonda Brock's classroom at Travis Elementary.
