Doing the Connally-Gilmer Traffic Shuffle

As promised, traffic flow around the courthouse square has been redirected at the intersection of Gilmer and Connally streets as a part of the renovation on Connally Street. Traffic turning onto Gilmer from Jefferson Street has been routed through a section of parking around the courthouse. City officials say the detour will be in effect until the end of the year. Weekend storms rage through county

A line of thunderstorms moved through southeastern Hopkins County early Saturday leaving a number of county roads closed because of downed trees.


SB Beta Club blood drive has ‘awesome turnout’

Sulphur Bluff Beta Club had “an awesome turnout, with 49 willing donors giving a total of 45 units, during the Carter BloodCare Blood Drive held to benefit former long-time SB teacher Shirley Hare, who recently had to have blood units during two recent surgeries.


County officials approve agreements on cemeteries, inmate transfers

Agreements that will enable work on two cemeteries were approved by Hopkins County commissioners Monday morning along with an interlocal contract with Hunt County.
