City census could hit 15,700 next year

Sulphur Springs is on pace to have a population of more than 15,700 people by the time the 2010 count of the citizenry is completed, according to the latest estimates by the U.S. Census Bureau.

A New Mexico man was sentence Wednesday in the 8th Judicial District Court to serve 15 years in prison for robbing a disabled man and 10 years for engaging in organized criminal activity. The terms are to be served concurrently.
