More storms expected in Hopkins County tonight; flash floods possible by morning, forecasters warn

With predictions of flash floods in the area by morning, local emergency management officials are reminding motorists to be especially cautious of low-lying areas and roads covered in water that can prove to be hazardous, and even deadly.

United Way drive extended; Campaign at 62 percent of $150,000 goal, but some big donors have yet to turn in pledges

Hopkins County United Way has extended its fund-raising campaign by a few days to give companies time to prepare and workers time to collect donation packets. As of Tuesday’s meeting, HCUW had raised more than 60 percent of its $150,000 campaign goal to benefit 17 local agencies.
