Area under heat advisory until Wednesday evening; high temps could reach 108 in parts of North Texas

The National Weather Service has again issued a heat advisory for Hopkins County and the entirety of North Texas, and the hazardous weather warning will remain in effect until Wednesday night.


SSISD names new middle school principal

Rusty Harden was approved Monday night by school trustees to serve as principal at Sulphur Springs Middle School. The personnel change was one of several made throughout the campuses of Sulphur Springs Independent School District during a regular meeting of the school board.

County officials balk at applying for grant because of wording

Two Hopkins County Commissioners today opposed applying for a grant of almost $350,000 to repair road damage caused by storms in the spring of 2008, questioning why the grant was for “Hopkins County” when the money would only be used in Precinct 2.
