Brothers from Longview charged in deadly Winnsboro drive-by shooting

Winnsboro police have apprehended two men in the fatal drive-by shooting of a Winnsboro woman on Saturday. Both of the men were charged with the murder of Anna Marie Moore, 24, who died Tuesday morning as a result of being hit by one of two bullets the pair allegedly fired into her house.

Yantis ISD superintendent placed on paid leave; school board sides with teacher in grievance against top administrator

Yantis Independent School District’s regular board of trustees meeting was fairly normal for May — aside from one major item which leaves the district without a top administrator until Friday afternoon. School trustees voted Monday following an executive session to place Superintendent Michael Barnett “on administrative leave with pay pending further notice,” business manager Kristi Beech said Tuesday, reading from a prepared statement.
