HCMH repairs expected to be done by mid-November

A routine traffic stop Monday night turned into a 2 1/2 hour manhunt for a man who fled the scene in handcuffs. Two men were eventually jailed for possessing large amounts of money and a weapon.

Crime Stoppers grant allows tactical team to buy night-vision equipment

Hopkins County’s tactical weapons team Monday thanked the Lake Country Crime Stoppers Board for a $5,500 grant that allowed the squad to purchase special night vision equipment presented to the Sulphur Springs-Hopkins County 12-man unit.

Hospital board unanimously approves tax increase

Hopkins Memorial Hospital District's board of directors gave unanimous approval Monday evening to a 29.5 percent increase in the district's tax rate, raising the levy by 5 cents, from 16.37 cents to 21.37 cents per $100 of property value.
