SS powerlifters win third meet

The Sulphur Springs powerlifting team got first place overall at the Emory Rains Annual Powerlifting Meet.
It was the third consecutive first place finish for the Sulphur  Springs team.

Sulphur Springs had two first place lifters, five second place lifters, a third place, a fourth place, and fifth place lifters.


Lady Cats ready for season

The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats closed out the scrimmage portion of their softball season with an 8-6 win at Lindale Thursday night.
The Lady Cats banged out 13 hits on their way to the win over the Lady Eagles.
Coach David Carrillo was happy with the work done by three pitchers. Kaci Kennedy pitched the first three innings and gave up three runs on six hits, and struck out four. Katie Dugan followed with three innings, allowing three unearned runs on two hits, and struck out five. Baylee Speaker pitched the final inning allowing no runs, two hits and two strike outs.


Upcoming sporting events

The Sulphur Springs boys will finish the basketball regular season at home Tuesday against Hallsville.
Games begin at 5 p.m. with the ninth grade, followed by the JV and varsity.

The Wildcats have to win the game to secure third place in the playoffs, they can finish no lower than fourth.   


Cumby girls lose warm-up; meet Trenton in playoffs tonight

CUMBY — The Cumby Lady Trojans were outscored 48-36 in a warm up game on Friday the 13th against the Lone Oak Lady Buffaloes.
The Lady Buffs held Lady Trojan Savanah Neal to the least amount of points scored all season at just 10 points (three assists and five steals).


Wildcats win thriller; clinch playoff berth

It was a thriller on Friday the 13th, but the results were not frightening for Sulphur Springs fans.
