Sherman sweeps Lady Cats in volleyball finale

The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats lost their volleyball season finale in three straight games to 13-4A foe Sherman Tuesday night at the Sulphur Springs gym.

Honored were Jalie Eppars, Kara Tomlinson, Kyri Ivery and T’Kea Johnson in a ceremony involving the seniors’ family and head coach Brandi Small.

The Senior Night crowd got to see the Lady Cats put up a fight, but lose 18-25, 21-25, 20-25 to the visiting Sherman team.


Area Volleyball Roundup: Lady Trojans take district volleyball title

AVERY — The Cumby Lady Trojans clinched the District 18-1A Championship with a match victory over the hosting Avery Lady Bulldogs 25-18, 25-22, 25-18.

Ashley Anderson was the top scorer with 11 points, three aces, three kills and four digs for Cumby.


C-P Eagles win CC district meet

WINNSBORO — Taking first place overall as a team were the Como-Pickton Eagles at District Cross Country with 51 points at Winnsboro’s Purley Gates Retreat.


Wildcats prepare for T. High attack

Sulphur Springs jumps back into the thick of District 13-4A competition against Texas High.

The Tigers, second place in the district at 6-3, 4-1, will face the Wildcats 6-2, 3-1 at Gerald Prim Stadium Friday at 7:30 p.m.

HAWKINS — The North Hopkins Cross Country teams competed Monday in the District 19A meet in Hawkins.

The North Hopkins varsity boys team finished in third place with team member Ray Brown finishing third with a time of 17:54.  Other  members were: Cody Nix, seventh place, Jovanny Perez,11th place, Jessie Williams, 28th place and Enrique Sol, 32nd place.
