Sulphur Springs boys fall to Texas High

TEXARKANA — The Texas High Tigers played like they were trying to clinch a playoff berth, downing Sulphur Springs, 88-64 here Tuesday night.

The Wildcats stayed close early, trailing 21-19 at the end of the first quarter.

“We had a great first quarter and played well most of the game,” said Sulphur Springs head coach Braughn Curtis. “It came down to transition points and offensive rebounds that beat us.  We didn't get back with the intent to stop someone and Texas High took advantage of that and got some easy buckets.”


Wisnieski scores hat trick in SS girls’ win

The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats, fresh from a first place finish in the Texarkana Border City soccer tournament, proved they could also play well at home.

Before a chilly crowd at Gerald Prim Stadium, the Lady Cats rode the hot scoring foot of Brooke Wisnieski to a 4-1 win over Athens Tuesday night.

Wisnieski pulled off a hat trick, getting three goals for the Lady Cats.

C-P loses, 51-42 to Quitman

QUITMAN — The Como-Pickton Eagles were downed in district play 51-42 by the hosting Quitman Bulldogs.

Zack Carpenter led the Eagles with nine points and three assists.

Leading in takeaways was Julian Ramirez with three as he popped the net for seven points.

Como-Pickton will host Senior Night and opponent Lone Oak Friday.


Wildcats sign national letters Wednesday

Sulphur Springs head football coach Greg Owens said that national letter of intent college signing for players will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Wildcat Room.



Lady Cats take first in soccer tournament
