Wildcats rest, heal -- Sulphur Springs tied for second place in District 13-4A race at open week

The Sulphur Springs Wildcats are sitting in pretty good shape after eight games played heading into a bye week.

The Wildcats, now 6-2, 3-1 in district, are open this week. Sulphur Springs head football coach Greg Owens gave the team Monday off but the team will work on fundamentals the rest of the week.

First Pitch

Sulphur Bluff fourth grader Aaron Swanson made baseball history by throwing out the first pitch last week at the Texas Rangers game. His father, David Swanson, who works at Grocery Supply, was awarded the prize of four home-plate seats and the honor for his child of throwing out the first pitch. His family was at the game to see the historic pitch.  Swanson also got a signed Nolan Ryan card.                        Submitted photo

Wildcats bomb the Tigers: Justin Owens throws four touchdown passes in 42-13 victory

MOUNT PLEASANT – The Sulphur Springs Wildcats got four touchdown passes from Justin Owens as they took a 42-13 win on the road over Mount Pleasant Friday.

The Wildcats took the win to go 6-2 for the year and stay near the top of the District 13-4A football standings.

The win was also the 100th career coaching victory for Sulphur Springs native and Wildcats head football coach Greg Owens.
