Beep, beep Horne makes seven 3-pointers
CELESTE —The net was sizzling after Dylan Horne popped in seven 3-pointers Tuesday to lead North Hopkins to a 49-45 win over Celeste.
Canyon Cockrum added 14 for the visiting Panthers.
It was a game the Wildcats could have easily won.
Rockwall-Heath got a driving bucket from Preston Wynn to take a 60-59 lead with 38.5 seconds left.
The Wildcats worked for an open shot, by the try bounced off the rim. Rockwall-Heath gathered in the rebound and ran out the clock.
Joey Davis led Sulphur Springs with 18 points, including five 3-pointers; Bryant “Day Day” Jackson had 15 (10 in the second half) and Kedrick Dial, in his first action of the season, had 11 points and four rebounds.
BIRTHRIGHT — The girls bracket of the Freeman Parish tournament yielded Honey Grove as the champions with a 66-52 final tilt, the hosting North Hopkins Lady Panthers came out with a consolation trophy over Rivercrest, and Bland was third with a defeat against Paris Chisum, 38-32, all on Saturday afternoon.
Jason Keller was on top of his game during Sunday night mixed play this week, firing a 780 scratch series.
