Red Raiders to host Hwy. 11 rival Eagles for homecoming

WINNSBORO — It is that time of year again. A storm is brewing. It is the Highway 11 rivalry between neighboring schools and District 13-2A opponents, Como-Pickton and Winnsboro.


Trojan on the run

Cumby JH Trojan team came home with a 8-6 victory over the Fruitvale Bobcats Thursday afternoon. Trojan ball carrier Tristan Clayton barrels for yards for his team, he also scored in the game on a 30-yard run according to his coach James Johnson. Nick Folse scored the two point conversion. Cumby homecoming ceremonies at Frazier-Lawrence Field are planned prior to tonight's kick off at 7:30 p.m. between Cumby and Fruitvale.

SSHS Hall gets 3 new members

Three former Sulphur Springs athletes who carved out their places in school history with outstanding play will be inducted into the SSHS Hall of Fame Friday.


Area grid teams in big games

The handwriting is on the wall and it is clear for all district opponents to see — this is a big week.

The fields will be slick and wet tonight in the area, but the action with hot and intense.

The Sulphur Springs Wildcats will be at home in a very important bounce back game.


Rebound Game -- Wildcats return home for key district matchup against old rival Texas High

The 45-0 loss at Longview is a distant memory.

That’s what Sulphur Springs head football coach Greg Owens hopes as the Wildcats return home to host Texas High at 7:30 Friday at Gerald Prim Stadium.

The Wildcats enter the game at 5-1, knocked from the state Top 10. The Tigers are 2-2, 0-1 and picked to beat Sulphur Springs by six points in the Harris Ratings.
