State Dixie Youth Baseball tournament continues

It was a tough time to meet a stellar pitcher.

Spring Hill’s Brandon Nance struck out eight and threw six innings of shutout innings as the squad downed Sulphur Springs 7-0 in Saturday baseball action.


Hopkins Co. teams go for titles tonight

Two Hopkins County teams will be in championship action tonight in the title games on the two divisions of the Dixie Girls Softball tournament underway at Coleman Park.

The Hopkins County American team won 13-2 over Dayton in Sunday action after winning 25-5 over Jacksonville Saturday.

In the win over Dayton, Sadavia Porter and Autumn Tanton had home runs.

Fund-raiser set for SS youth baseball team
The Sulphur Springs Central baseball team will advance to the World Series in Minden, La. later this month.
A bake sale will be  9 a.m. to noon Tuesday in front of Creations by Joyce near Fieldhouse Sports.

Co-Ed softball tournament slated
The Sulphur Springs Panthers Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. will be hosting a Co-Ed softball tournament Saturday, Aug. 8.

DUNCANVILLE — After the smoke and the sweat all cleared, Sulphur Springs finished in second place.


Hopkins Co. teams win in softball tourney

Nothing like a 3-0 start to make you forget about the heat.

It was a good first day for local teams in the Dixie Softball Tournament being held at Coleman Park with teams competing in both the Darlings and Angels divisions.

All three local teams got wins by one-sided scores.
