Baseball tryouts set for Saturday, Jan. 23

The Sulphur Springs Cats, an 11U traveling baseball team will be having tryouts for the upcoming season on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 2 p.m., the location is to determined at a later date and will be posted on the Cats website at www.wildcats1team1dream.com; weather permitting. For more information contact Chris Follis at 903-335-1235 or visit the website provided. Pictured is the 2009 Fall Cats baseball team, the Central America runner-ups in USSSA. The team was sponsored by VFW Post 8560 and Lone Star Cabinets. Team members would also like to extend a special thanks to Charles Helm and the hotel staff for their hospitality. Wildcats, Lady Cats play MP teams

The Sulphur Springs Wildcats and Lady Cats have key games set Friday against basketball foes from Mount Pleasant.

Lady Cats, Palestine tie in soccer

ATHENS —The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats opened the Athens Tournament Thursday with a 2-2 draw against the Palestine.



Winning kicks

Diana Sanchez of Sulphur Springs scored three goals in recent home action against Denison. The Lady Cats will play at 6:30 p.m. today against Palestine in the opening round of the Athens tournament which will be held on Bruce Field. Games continue through Saturday.

Lady Eagles fall 51-25 to Lone Oak

LONE OAK — The Como-Pickton Lady Eagles fell to the Lone Oak Lady 'Buffs in round ball action Tuesday night, 51-25.

Jordan Carlock had eight points while teammate Saxe Daugherty netted seven for top scorers for the Lady Eagles. Lady Eagle Kadi Baxter swished a long 3-pointer.
