Wildcats rest, refocus during bye week

Most people will agree that the bye week in District 13-4A came at a good time for the Sulphur Springs Wildcats.

The Wildcats are idle tonight as they rest with a 6-2 overall mark, 3-1 in district.

Sulphur Springs is coming off a big 42-13 road win against Mount Pleasant.

Baseball excitement in Texas in mid to late October is truly a wonderful thing to watch. Arlington is covered in Ranger red and 45,000 pom-poms will be distributed tonight as the Rangers try to win Game 6 and close out the ALCS over the overpaid pinstripers.

Only two more weeks remain in district play after tonight's game. Some area teams will be trying to “dig themselves out of a hole” for a chance at playoffs.

Picked by 10, Winnsboro hosts Grand Saline with a must-win situation on the line. Mount Vernon will “Tackle for a Cure” as they plan to fill the stadium with pink as they host the favored North Lamar Panthers, favored by 27-points.

Bye Week Work

The Wildcats are off this week with no game Friday, but they are still working on drills, fundamentals as they prepare for their final two district games of the year. They return to action at home Oct. 29 against Texas High with a possible playoff berth on the line.
