NH Panthers end playoff run

BIRTHRIGHT — The Panthers lost the best-of-three series to Detroit in the bi-district playoffs, ending the baseball season for North Hopkins.

     Tyler Armstrong settled the tense, edge-of-your seat, two-hour District 5A bi-district battle with one pitch.


SS 7-on-7 action starts

  GILMER — The first 7-on-7 tournament of the year was productive for the Wildcats as they brought home medals.
    The varsity went 2-1 in pool competition in the pool play of the Gilmer event.

physicals set
  The Cumby athletic department announced that physicals for incoming seventh, ninth and 11th graders will be held May, 19, 2017 at the school.
  Students will get a hand out from the school.

gets alumni day
at Frisco
  FRISCO — Texas A&M-Commerce University will have alumni day May 20 at Frisco Rough Riders game against Corpus Christi.
  Tickets are $20, deadline is May 18.

Playoffs slated
for teams
   The Sulphur Bluff Bears won 11-4 over Bloomburg in the bi-district playoffs.
    The Bears  take on Union Hill- Wednesday, at Mount Vernon at 6:30, Saturday, 3 p.m. Game 3 if needed, 30 minutes later.
   Yantis will meet Trinidad in the playoffs, all games are Kemp High School. Game 1 is Thursday at 7 p.m.; Game 2 at 7 p.m. Friday; Game 3, if needed, at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Bright Star
games set
  The Bright Star special needs baseball league will return to action today.
   Games begin at 6 p.m. on fields at Buford Park. Participants are asked to show up at 5 p.m. for photos.

Cumby ousted

from playoffs

  OMAHA — The Cumby baseball season came to an end as the Trojans were swept in two games by Linden-Kildare.
    In Friday action at Paul Pewitt High School the Trojans fell 14-1, 5-3 according to Cumby coach Jason Keeney.
