The varsity will play at 4:30 p.m. followed by the JV and freshmen.

North Hopkins meet draws 600 runners from 29 schools

BIRTHRIGHT — The weather was warm and toasty, but it did not deter the enthusiasm of some 600 runners who competed Thursday in the North Hopkins Invitational Cross Country Meet.

North Hopkins coach Richard Akerhielm said 29 schools were represented with racers competing in varsity, junior varsity and junior high, boys and girls divisions.

Second place winners

The SSFC Lady Cats, a local U14 soccer team, finished second in the Quickfoot Tournament of Champions soccer tournament in Forney.  Team members are Julie Hawkins, Bailie Modesit, Kaitlin Maddox, Grace Grafton, Kinzi Irving, Madison Ramirez and Coach Jimmy Green.

For the second week in a row, a Wildcat team is guaranteed to win on Friday night.

Both Sulphur Springs and Paris share the Wildcat mascot and a lot of yelling for Wildcats will be heard in the stands.

Sulphur Springs head coach Greg Owens is trying to keep the game at Paris in perspective and not get involved in the hoopla.
