SUGAR LAND (AP) — High school basketball rankings as compiled by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches and Tex Preps Basketball magazine for the week of Jan. 10:
The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats rallied from a 12-point deficit to take a 44-36 win over Mount Pleasant in a key District 13-4A girls basketball game.
The Lady Cats with the win go to 4-2 in the district race while Mount Pleasant falls to 3-2. Sulphur Springs is in third place behind Sherman and Royse City.
MOUNT PLEASANT — The Sulphur Springs Wildcats fell behind early and could not make up the deficit, losing to the Tigers 70-29 in District 13-4A action Tuesday night.
The Wildcats fell to 0-4 in district play while Mount Pleasant is now 3-0 and near the top of the standings.
Bears defeat Paris Home School
PRAIRILAND — Double-digit scoring from three Sulphur Bluff Bear players led to the recent 64-52 win against the Paris Home School team at the Prairiland Junior High gym.
Splitting 30 points evenly was Ken Wade and Collin Williams of Sulphur Bluff. The Bears took an early lead over their opponent with a 35-21 halftime scoring advantage. Landon Dorner added 10 points in the win for the Bears.
