Playoff Mode; Wildcats open postseason vs. Lindale in 4A bi-district competition Friday

After waiting until the last half of the last game in the 10th week of the season to clinch a playoff berth, the Sulphur Springs Wildcats are back in the playoffs.

Last year the Wildcats went on a magical journey of road trips in the playoffs which led to a perfect 6-0 record and a state title.

This year, the adventure begins with the same bi-district foe they had in 2008, the Lindale Eagles.

Suggs going to ‘Hog Heaven’

Sulphur Springs pitcher Colby Suggs is living the dream.

As a small lad he grew up dreaming of one day playing baseball for the Razorbacks.

Now as a 6-foot, 220-pound senior, he signed to play for his beloved Arkansas as the Wildcat hurler inked a national letter of intent to attend the SEC school on a baseball scholarship.

The Lady Lions got 21 points from Victoria Stretcher and 16 for Brooke Lane as they rolled to a 75-20 win Tuesday over Jefferson.

Lady Cats drop hoop opener

The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats were hot and cold in their season basketball opener.

At times the Lady Cats were blistering the net from 3-point territory. Other times the visiting Lady Lions were in command.

When the smoke cleared it was Greenville taking a 46-39 win over Sulphur Springs in the season opener for the Lady Cats.
