Lady Cats swept by Texas High

The Texas High Lady Tigers rolled to three-game sweep of Sulphur Springs in volleyball action played Friday in the SSHS gym.

After taking Marshall to five games earlier in the week, the Lady Cats lost 3-0 to the visiting Texas High squad to fall to 1-7 in District 13-4A competition.


MV Tigers drops first game, lose to New Boston, 48-28

MOUNT VERNON—After rolling out to a 5-0 start, the Tigers saw their undefeated mark come crashing down Friday night, losing to New Boston, 48-28.

The visiting Lions roared from the first of the game to the end of the District 16-3A football contest. Mainly fueled by the running of Sha’Keem Jeffferson.


Cooper edged by Quitman

COOPER — In the battle of Bulldogs, it was the Quitman pack howling late as they scored 14 points in the second half to take a 25-14 win over Cooper.

The 13-2A battle was tough from the opening kickoff.

Cooper won the battle of stats with 305 total yards compared to 135 for the visiting pups. But in the upset Quitman had the most points on the scoreboard.


Rains drops district opener at home, 56-32

EMORY – The Rains Wildcats gave a great effort but couldn't overcome the big plays and turnovers in a 56-32 loss to the Nevada Community Braves on Friday night at Wildcat Stadium.     The game was the District 13-3A opener for the two teams.
