Trojans stopped by Wolves' ground game

WOLFE CITY — The homecoming celebration was almost dampened but not from rain. The Cumby Trojans came to town with a different game plan, and in the first half progress was made. In the second half the wheels fell off as the favored Wolfe City Wolves finished with a 33-10 win.

“We had a good half,” said a frustrated Cumby Trojan head football coach Ed Perez after the game. “We just couldn't keep it together and execute in the end.”


Undefeated Bulldogs: Cooper runs over Mount Vernon, 41-27

MOUNT VERNON — The powerful running game of the Cooper Bulldogs was too much to contain with Mount Vernon falling, 41-27 here Friday night.

The Tigers had some claws of their own, staying in the game until late. The fate of Mount Vernon was finally sealed by two second half turnovers which Cooper turned into points.


Winnsboro takes road loss

GARRISON — It was a long bus ride home for Winnsboro. The Garrison Bulldogs pushed their record to 3-0 with a win against the Winnsboro Red Raiders in a 22-12 battle.

Winnsboro chalked up 248 total yards in rushing and receiving.

“It was a good ball game,” said Steve Pinnell, Winnsboro Red Raiders head football coach. “The defense did good but we need to execute better on offense.”


C-P Eagles plucked by Bulldogs

COMO —The Eagles suffered a loss for a second week in a row. Friday they were blanked by the visiting Quitman Bulldogs, 18-0.

Devontae McNeal isn't the spotlight player for Quitman without good reason. McNeal powered all the scoring for the night with his three TDs adding to his growing 1,350 yards, 13 TDs passing and top returning receiver status from last season. McNeal had 205 yards against Como-Pickton.


Rains beats Sabine for first victory

LIBERTY CITY — Rains took advantage of several turnovers to notch a 21-12 win over the Sabine Cardinals on Friday.
