Wildcats’ Year In Review: Dream of second straight state title fades, but 10-4 year was a success

When you start recapping this football season, it brings you back into 2008 and the run to the state title.


Farmersville rallies by Sulphur Springs

NEVADA – For the second straight game, the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats took a double-digit lead into the fourth quarter on Friday. But, once again, it wasn’t enough.

The Lady Cats took a 35-25 lead over Farmersville heading into the final period  of their second-round game of the Community tournament, but had the lead slip away in a 43-42 loss.


SS boys in hoop tournaments

The Sulphur Springs varsity Wildcats fell 80-63 to Athens in the opening round of the Wills Point Tournament.

Top scorer was Alvin Frazier  with 23 points while Joey Davis added 16.

Other scorers include:Tevin Norris with  eight, Kadarian Wright seven, Gage Williams five and CodyClayton, one point.

In Friday action Sulphur Springs beat the Forney JV 59 - 42.

Lady Trojans look for another tourney prize

FRUITVALE -The Cumby Lady Trojans will be looking to repeat their success that they recently had at the Miller Grove tournament with another trophy for their display case. The Lady Trojans played Big Sandy in the second round of the Fruitvale tournament on Friday bringing back another win, 59-42. The Lady Trojans continue tournament action today at 5 p.m. against the defending Eustace team. Each will be vying for the top trophy.


Local teams advance to finals of Cap Herman tourney

SULPHUR BLUFF — Posting wins and advancement to the final round of play for the boys bracket of the Cap Herman tournament is Yantis and Bloomburg bouting for first place, Prairiland and Campbell for the consolation prize and Sulphur Bluff against Roxton for the third place award at 4:30 p.m.
