Texas A&M-Commerce coaches visit on tour

Members of the Texas A&M-Commerce University coaching staff visited Sulphur Springs Monday night, stopping at Alliance Bank.



Wildcats, Panthers continue in playoffs

The Sulphur Springs Wildcats and North Hopkins Panthers remain as the only two teams in the county still in postseason action.

Both teams face tough teams in the area round this week of the baseball playoffs.


Forrest Gregg book released

NFL Hall of Fame member Forrest Gregg has written a book chronicling his playing and coaching days.

“Winning in the trenches” recounts his experiences not only playing for legendary coach Vince Lombardi, but growing up in Hopkins County.


Keller and Hague shoot three 700s in bowling league action

Jason Keller and Allan Hague both shot three 700s apiece this week, and eight other men came through with one apiece to account for 14 700s shot a Classic Lanes for the week. Keller shot the week’s highest set, a 783 rolled on Tuesday, then hit a 753 on Thursday. His third came on Sunday, a 715. Hague shot a 769 on Tuesday, a 724 on Thursday, and a 711 on Sunday. Eight other men shot single 700s during the week; Tarry Davison, 769, Greg Pullen ,752, Shayne Wilson, 741, Harold McClure, 732, Mike Love, 724, Vince Smith, 716, Neldon Smith, 708, and Mike Gilliland, 702. Three women, Donna White, Neice Heavin and Deanna Hale, fired 600s this week. White tossed a 636, Heavin a 630 and Hale, a 620.


Wildcats face Lions in area playoff series
