Gabrovic races in Ironman event

Nicki Gabrovic, daughter of Lucy and Jerry Gabrovic, participated in The Woodlands, Texas,  Ironman competition last Saturday. She finished the course in 13 hours and 40 minutes.
The Ironman competition consists of a 2.4 mile open water swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride, and finishes with a full marathon run (26.2 miles).  Over 2000 athletes entered the May 21 Woodlands Ironman.  An athlete has 17 hours to finish the arduous course.
She has two “Ironmans” to her credit, having done the Panama City Florida completion in 2004. She lives in Waco and is a member of the Waco Triathalon Club

It wasn’t exactly Willis Reed fighting off a severe thigh injury back in 1970, but I will give Dirk Nowitzki credit for a gutsy effort in Game 4.

Registration of the Sulphur Springs Wildcats Pop Warner football team will be Saturday
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at city park.
The league is open to  players ages 5-12. Late registration will also be held at a time to be determined. Cheerleader registration will also be held.

North Hopkins
The North Hopkins Lady Panther basketball team is holding a car wash/bake sale to raise money for an upcoming camp.
The car wash/bake sale is 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fire Station No. 2 in Sulphur Springs on Bill Bradford Road.
The Lady Panthers will be attending a team basketball camp at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, July 7-9. Proceeds from the car wash and bake sale will be used to pay the entry fee, lodging and for meals.
The Lady Panthers received car wash supplies donated by O’Reilly’s with bottled water given by Grocery Supply.

Single frames cost bowlers chance at 300 games

The opening week of summer league play brought seven bowlers near to – but not quite reaching – perfection during the week ending June 2 at Classic Lanes.

Duh, Dirk needs help
