First place Wildcats win, 2-0

PARIS — The first place Sulphur Springs Wildcats took a big district win Tuesday night winning at Paris North Lamar, 2-0.

The soccer win put the Wildcats at 4-0-1 with 14 points leading Paris (with 12 points) and North Lamar’s nine points in District 20-4A.

Miguel Mejia had two goals on the night. He first scored off an assist by Juan Juarez in the opening minutes of the second half.


C-P JH Eagles third at first meet

QUITMAN — Como-Pickton JH Eagle track team went to Quitman for the first meet of the year.  Only three teams showed up because of the weather. The seventh grade and eighth grade each finished third overall.


Final A&M-Commerce home game tonight full of events, promotions

COMMERCE —There is a full schedule of activities set for Wednesday's A&M-Commerce

basketball game against Southwestern Oklahoma State. A&M-Commerce is just one of six NCAA Division II schools that are a part of the McLendon Foundation.

John McLendon, a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame and National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame, is recognized as the first African American basketball coach at a predominantly white university.


Lady Trojans powerlifters advance to regionals

REDWATER — The Cumby Lady Trojans Powerlifting team placed fifth at the Redwater Powerlifting Meet on Thursday, Feb. 18.

Four of the Lady Trojans will advance as THSWPA regional qualifiers. Advancing under the direction of Coach Gary Parrish are in the 123 weight class Courtney Salinas and Krystin Krodle, in the 148 weight class Ashley Anderson, and in the 198 weight class Molly Nance.


Lady Cats edge Lindale Monday

LINDALE — To avoid snow and sleet, Sulphur Springs moved the game from Tuesday to Monday.

But it was still cold, very cold reported Sulphur Springs head softball coach David Carrillo. The Lady Cat bats were hot enough to pound out a dozen hits and take a 5-4 win over Lindale.
