Spring soccer gets underway

UIL reverses ruling, regional track meets back on

The track athletes in the area who had been told the regional track meets were scrapped got good news Thursday.

By this time, track and field coaches are busy pacing and biting their fingernails in hopes their track athletes will have what it takes to advance past the regional level. Well, the wait has finally come to an end, according to Thursday afternoon reports made by UIL.


UIL Regional Track Meets Tentatively Rescheduled

AUSTIN, TX— After collaborating with University of Texas officials and the twenty UIL regional track meet hosts, the UIL has tentatively rescheduled the regional track meets to take place after interscholastic competition resumes on May 11. Additionally, the state track meet is scheduled to be held June 5-6 at Myers Stadium at the University of Texas at Austin.

It was a toss-up between the UIL ruling and an April thunderstorm.

Both put a damper on athletics at Sulphur Springs Wednesday afternoon, the UIL was more lasting.

The UIL cancelled all events - athletic and academic - until May 11. This knocks not only baseball and softball players off the diamond for a while, but for many track athletes it ends their season.
