Soaring for Sulphur Bluff

Pole vaulting 11-foot is Sulphur Bluff Bear Dylan Horn. Horn came in second in the event at the district meet at Hawkins Thursday just behind Maud competitor Duston Brown, clearing 12-0 for first. Sulphur Bluff tracksters, that placed in the top four, advancing to regionals at SFA at Nacogdoches will compete at the regional qualifiers meet Thursday at Eustace.

Softball, Baseball play Monday
The baseball and softball games originally set Friday were rained out.
Sulphur Springs will play Texas High Monday in softball action at 6 p.m. at the SSHS diamond. A win would clinch the 13-4A championship for the Lady Cats.
The Wildcats will host Texas High at Eagle Stadium at 4 p.m. Monday.
The games are key district 13-4A  contests and very important in the standings.    Both games are varsity only. 

Physicals to be offered April 26

Sulphur Springs physicals will be given April 26. It will begin Sunday afternoon 2-3 p.m.

MG Hornets put sting to Indians

MILLER GROVE — Aaron Baylus added three runs of the grand total of 15 in the Miller Grove Hornets defeat over the visiting Campbell Indians mustering only four runs in recent baseball action.

Sulphur Springs golfer fifth in Tyler Jr. event

TYLER – The 3rd annual Azalea Trail Junior Golf Classic at Hollytree Country Club featured many of the top junior golfers in northern Texas as they competed in one of the first events of the 2009 Northern Texas PGA Junior Tour season.

Garrett Landers of Sulphur Springs was fifth in the event. He was fifth in the 12-13 age group with scores of 87-89-176.

McQueen, Jackson earn regional berths -- SS athletes advancing to Denton in triple jump, long jump and 300-meter hurdles

HALLSVILLE — The cream rose to the top at the District 13-4A track meet Wednesday and Thursday at Bobcat Stadium.

For Sulphur Springs, two regional competitors from last year, Shane McQueen and Bryant (Day Day) Jackson, earned a ticket the region II meet in Denton, May 1-2.

McQueen earned second place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 39.33, trailing only Darryl Wyrick of Texas High’s time of 37.91.
