Spring Soccer Fun

It may not have been gatorade, but spring soccer U8 coach Tesha Jones got her water dues from her assistant during the last game of the season on Saturday. The Sulphur Springs Soccer Association has opted not to play a spring soccer tournament as originally planned due to difficulties caused by rain delays.

NH Playoff Dream Ends -- North Hopkins loses Region II playoff series to Lindsay

McKINNEY — In the flash of one swing of an aluminum bat, the laughter turned to tears.

North Hopkins saw their dream of playing in the state softball tournament go up in dust as they lost 3-2 to Lindsay in the deciding game of the Region II Class 1A playoffs on a sizzling Saturday afternoon at McKinney High School.

North Hopkins had won the first game 6-3 Wednesday in the best-of-three game series with Chastin Smiddy pitching --suffering a line drive off her left leg. But she kept on pitching.

North Hopkins Softball Playoff Action Today

The North Hopkins Lady Panthers face off with the Lindsay Lady Knights in the Region II softball playoffs Saturday in McKinney.

North Hopkins had a 1-0 lead in the series. The winner of the event will advance to the Class 1A state softball playoffs at June 4-6 in Austin. See Monday’s edition for more coverage off the North Hopkins team.
