TEXARKANA — Neither rain, nor cold, nor two-hour bus rides could keep the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats from bring home the big trophy.
The Lady Cat Blue team defeated a quick and physical Hallsville team, 23-15 last Thursday night finishing district play with a 6-1 record. According to the coach the team played another outstanding defensive game by outscoring Hallsville 9-2 in the decisive fourth quarter.
Sunday night proved to be the night where everyone brought their “A’’ game, producing all four 700 series and one of the three women’s 600 series. Shayne Wilson posted the men’s high series during Sunday night mixed play with his 741 three-game scratch series.
Gone are two hour trips to Marshall and Hallsville, but they have been replaced with treks to Sherman and Denison.
Either way it seems like the University Interscholastic League biennial redistricting and reclassification has been pretty kind to Sulphur Springs.
Sulphur Springs stayed in 4A with an enrollment of 1,130. In the state class 4A was schools between 990 and 2,064 with that applying to 246 schools across the state of Texas.
