    SAN ANTONIO — Sulphur Springs golfers Brody Blackmon and Garrett Landers are near the top of the leaderboard after one round of the Texas Amateur Golf Tournament.
    Landers, a sophomore at Texas A&M-Commerce, shot a +3, 74 and is tied for 34th. Ole Miss signee Blackmon fired a +4 score of 75 tied for 49th at Oak Hill.
    First place after one round is Mitchell Meissner of San Antonio with a three under 67 round.
    Blackmon and Landers tee off today around 1:30 p.m. hoping to make the cut to continue play.

Baseball, softball
teams in action
    Sulphur Springs softball and baseball teams will be involved in playoff competition.
    The boys T-ball will play in Paris on June 25 at Woodall Field.
    In the 6 p.m. game the squad coached by Leslee Rawson, Walt Gamblin and Brandon Price are in action.
    In the 7:30 p.m. game - the team coached by coach Stogner and Billy Mercer will play.
    In 8U coach pitch - the action will beld starting Friday in Paris. The 6 p.m, game will be the team coached by Mike Jumper and Brandon Brewer; at 7:30 p.m. is the squad coached by Scotty Reed and Shiloh Childress.
    The 10U kid’s pitch will play in Mount Pleasant June 24. At 6 p.m. is the Marshall Brown, Chad Brown and Timo Torres team. At 10 a.m. on June 25, the team coached by Kurt Willis, Ashley Nunley and Mitch Orr.
    The 12U play in Mount Pleasant. At 6:30 p.m. the team coached by Mark Hill, Rodney Carpenter and Robert Smith; in the 8:30 p.m. game the team coached by Cliff Horton and Brandon Bain.
    The 13U plays June 24 in Center, in action will the Ben Hurst team.
    In 14U action, the team coached by Tony Crouse, Jason Evans and Zack Haywood got a bye to state in Center, July 17.
    The Dixie Sweetees automatically advance to state in Lindale, July 1-5.
    The Dixie Darlings play district at Red River (Detroit) today.    The Angels play district at Winnsboro on July 1.
    Also on July 1, the Belles are in district play in Franklin County.    The Ponytails host the state tournament starting July 15.
    Organizers are looking for some teams for league play at Sulphur Springs on Monday nights and Winnsboro on Tuesday nights.
 Teams don’t have to play every night of league pick and can choose your dates feadline for Leagues is on Saturdays at 5 p.m.
 Friday-Saturday - Texas A&M Commerce     Tournament three game guarantee $175 fee for  3/4, 5/6, 7/8, JV, varsity boys and girls.
June 25 - Terrell   Tournament three game guarantee $175 free for  3/4, 5/6, 7/8, JV, varsity boys and girls.
