North Hopkins
in area baseball
playoffs Friday
    The North Hopkins Panthers, fresh from a 2-0 sweep over McLeod will be in playoff action against Harleton.
    In the playoff sweep (by 5-2 and 11-0 scores)  Alfred Orozco had nine strikeouts, surrendering four hits. Austin Oldham pitched a scoreless frame allowing no hits.

SSMS tennis news

Sulphur Springs Middle School tennis team members  played in the Whiteright Middle School Tennis Tournament this past weekend. Others that faired well, Jackson Burnett, first place boys singles consolation; Harleigh Stegient, second place consolation girls singles; Heather Harris and Abbi Therwhanger both made it to the semifinals of the main draw. The team placed third overall among the eight teams invited. “The wind was tough but players were able to still maintain their focus on the court. Really looking forward to working with these players when they get to high school next year,” said Sulphur Springs tennis coach Tony Martinez.
The Pro-Am doubles tennis tournament Saturday. May 21, deadline next Wednesday May 18  for information contact coach Martinez 512-216-8014.
