Three SS athletes get regional berth in track

    WHITEHOUSE — Sulphur Springs added more names to the list of regional qualifiers following area track action here Friday.
    Imani Taylor was second in the long jump with a leap of 15-10. Chassity Sims of Lindale took first in the event at 16-2 3/4.
    Jacob Gatewood of Sulphur Springs, who had already won the 3,200 race, made it a double gold medal event, taking first in the the 1,600-meter run. He turned in a time of 4:35.12, edging out Evan Barron of Pine Tree time of 4:35.52.
    In Thursday competition, Gatewood ran a 9:58.58 time to win the 3,200-meter race.
    Also earning a ticket to regional in Arlington was Abbigael Baier. Baier won the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15.54 and took first in the 300-meter hurdles at 46.28.
    Longview won the girls team title at area with Pine Tree taking the boys division.
