Walking through a winter wonderland

Well, it may not look like a winter wonderland around Sulphur Springs but it sure does feel like it with the temperatures dropping more each evening. With this time of the year always being so busy, I have had a hard time finding time to get into the holiday spirit until Friday night. It was almost as if Santa himself was tiptoeing on our rooftop, our children were just so excited.

After finally finding our tinsel that I spent over four days searching for, we were able to hang our ornaments on the tree. With over 500 delicate treasures that are squeezed onto our seven-foot tree, this process seems to become timelier each year but well worth it.

It was while we were adorning our tree that we were happily interrupted by the sights and sounds of the Lions Club’s Second Annual Christmas Light Parade as it came rolling past our house.

Unable to resist despite the cold, we ventured out into our very own wonderland (as my husband and oldest son made sure of with all of their work making our house look like a gingerbread house with holiday lights). It was wonderful. Everyone on all the floats was so friendly. We had a front row view just steps away from a hot cup of chocolate and our favorite movie, “The Christmas Story.”

Have to admit, it was a bit strange for me—breaking away from sports on a Friday night. Shhhh…don’t tell. But I guess as the saying goes…Santa is watching! {wink, wink}

Let's all sing along...
