Tickets are on sale now, for the Texas Heritage National PBR Challenge, presented by Priefert Ranch Equipment. This year they are offering  advanced reserved seating for $17 and advanced general admission for only $15!

 

Tickets are available at Texas Heritage National Bank, Circle E and the Civic Center! Remember, get your tickets early and save $5 dollars per ticket instead of buying them the nights of the rodeo. Which, by the way, the PBR event will be August 21st and 22nd at the Civic Center.

 

Anytime Fitness Ribbon Cutting, Saturday, August 8, at Noon

Please join us in welcoming Anytime Fitness to the Chamber of Commerce this Saturday at noon. The fitness center is located in the Spring Village Shopping Center at 1185 S. Broadway! There will also be a huge block party taking place at the same time with hot dogs, prizes and more!  You can register to win a FREE one year membership to the Fitness Center, so don’t miss out!

 

Ground Breaking for The Nehemiah Foundation, Friday, August 14,  11:30am

The Nehemiah Foundation is working to develop low to moderate income housing. On August 3, Board members Valanderous Bell, CEO, and John Cooper, secretary of the foundation, signed the first Construction Contract Agreement with Jay Johnson of Johnson Construction. It is now time to break ground on the first of hopefully many low-to-moderate homes. Please join us for the groundbreaking at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 14, at 722 South Davis Street in Sulphur Springs.

The signing of the contract sets the beginning Housing Construction under the Nehemiah Foundation Community Development program. They are in the beginning phase of addressing this long sought opportunity pertaining to the housing needs of low-to-moderate families and individuals. While you are at the Chamber picking up the new phone books, make sure to pick up the 2009 Newcomer’s Guide. It is filled with useful information, including phone numbers, for our community.

 

Kids Expo, Saturday Aug. 8, at Sulphur Springs Gymnastics!

In today’s world, it is so very important to help teach our children how to be healthy, and that is exactly what Sulphur Springs Gymnastics is offering with their Kids Expo on Saturday August 8th. They will be offering health awareness, safety awareness, gymnastics, tumbling, taekwondo and dance. The classes and information are free, so make sure to take your children to the EXPO! 3rd Annual Hot August Night BBQ Cook-Off—Support your Volunteer Fire Departments-8/22

Looking for family fun? Don’t waste the gas — stay local and bring out the whole family for a full day of fire, fun and fantastic music, then stick around for the PBR Challenge at the Civic Center. Listen to”Texas Red Dirt Music;” cheer on your favorite volunteer fire station in the fire muster games; let the kids play in the bounce houses; shop the vendor booths; and witness several demonstrations! If you would like to have a vendor booth, please call Dawn Morgan at 903-335-2187. Wristbands for the event can be pre-purchased at STAR Country Radio, any of your local volunteer fire departments, or the Civic Center for $10 for adults, children 6-10 are $7, and kids 5 and under are FREE! Concerts will be going from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. with food being served at 4 p.m. until they run out, so get there early!!

 

HCMH will be celebrating 60 years and will host a reception Thursday, Sept. 3rd, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.


Over 105 stew sites selected for the 2009 World Champion Hopkins County Stew Contest

Hopkins County Fall Festival, Sept. 12th-19th

As you are marking your calendars, mark off the entire third week in September for the Fall Festival! This year the Fall Festival will be introducing several new events to compliment the Arts & Crafts Show, Quilt Show, Business Expo, Street Dance, Petting Zoo and Carnival. They have tons and tons of activities for the whole family!
