Tickets are on sale now, for the Texas Heritage National PBR Challenge, presented by Priefert Ranch Equipment. This year they are offering Advanced Reserved Seating for $17 and Advanced General Admission for only $15!

Tickets are available at Texas Heritage National Bank, Circle E and the Civic Center! Remember, get your tickets early and save $5 dollars per ticket instead of buying them the nights of the rodeo. Which, by the way, the PBR event will be August 21st and 22nd at the Civic Center.

27th Annual Texas Cushman Motor Scooter Club meet

Have you seen the hundreds of Cushman motor scooters that have been rolling into town this week? Each day the group will take short drives around Hopkins County, so be mindful of them on the roads! Also, if you would like to get a closer look at the Cushmans stop by the Civic Center while they are here and check them out — they love to show them off!

 

Beans & Cornbread Lunch this Friday at Hopkins County Genealogical Society from 11-2

The Hopkins County Genealogical Society will be hosting a home-cooked beans and cornbread lunch, including sliced onions, pickles, jalapeños, iced tea, plus your choice of dessert: pie, cake, cookies or cobbler, all prepared by the Genealogical Society! The best part of it — it’s only $5!!! So stop by 212 Main Street on Friday for a yummy lunch. The will also prepare take-out orders — just call 903-885-8523.

 

Kids Expo, Saturday August 8th at Sulphur Springs Gymnastics!

In today’s world, it is so very important to help teach our children how to be healthy, and that is exactly what Sulphur Springs Gymnastics is offering with their Kids Expo on Saturday August 8th. They will be offering health awareness, safety awareness, gymnastics, tumbling, taekwondo and dance. The classes and information are free, so make sure to take your children to the EXPO! 3rd Annual Hot August Night BBQ Cook-Off: Support your Volunteer Fire Departments Aug. 22

Looking for family fun? Don’t waste the gas — stay local and bring out the whole family for a full day of fire, fun and fantastic music, then stick around for the PBR Challenge at the Civic Center. Listen to”Texas Red Dirt Music;” cheer on your favorite volunteer fire station in the fire muster games; let the kids play in the bounce houses; shop the vendor booths; and witness several demonstrations! If you would like to have a vendor booth, please call Dawn Morgan at 903-335-2187. Wristbands for the event can be pre-purchased at STAR Country Radio, any of your local volunteer fire departments, or the Civic Center for $10 for adults, children 6-10 are $7 and kids 5 and under are FREE! Concerts will be going from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. with food being served at 4 p.m. until they run out, so get there early!!

 

HCMH will be celebrating 60 years and will host a reception Thursday, Sept. 3rd, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.!

 

Over 100 stew sites selected for the 2009 World Champion Hopkins County Stew Contest

Don’t forget, the stew contest is Saturday, September 19th, and we will begin serving stew at 10:45 a.m. in Buford Park! If you have any questions, please give us a call at the Chamber at 903-885-6515! Only 51 days til the Stew Contest!!!

 

Hopkins County Fall Festival, Sept. 12th-19th

As you are marking your calendars, mark off the entire third week in September for the Fall Festival! This year the Fall Festival will be introducing several new events to compliment the Arts & Crafts Show, Quilt Show, Business Expo, Street Dance, Petting Zoo and Carnival. They have tons and tons of activities for the whole family!
