L-3, A&M-COMMERCE ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP ON BUSINESS DEGREE

       COMMERCE, Texas -- L-3 Integrated Systems, a division of L-3 Communications, has announced that it will team with Texas A&M University-Commerce to target the Master of Science in Management program to a specific company. This innovative approach reinforces the combined commitment between business and higher education to building tomorrow's leaders.

 

      The program allows students from business and non-business backgrounds to pursue a master's degree while developing their management skills for application with a leading defense company.

Providing his unique perspective will be L-3 senior vice president and A&M-Commerce alumnus Jack Cooke. L-3 will partially fund Cooke's new position at the university where he will teach both the Managing at the Edge course as well as a class in Active Leadership that will take place at L-3's Greenville, Texas facility.

 

      "We at L-3 are focused on building tomorrow's work force through higher education and the Master of Science in Management program will go a long way towards encouraging the next generation of business leaders," said Tom Brown, L-3 is senior vice president of human resources.

 

      "This cutting-edge program will give our students real-world insight so they will have the skills they need from the moment they begin their careers," said Hal Langford, dean of business and technology. "As a leader in online and distance education, A&M-Commerce sees this as a possible model for targeting programs to develop skilled leaders for corporations nationwide."

 

      L-3 and A&M-Commerce have enjoyed a long relationship as regional neighbors. L-3 has supported the university with donations and grants and A&M-Commerce has assisted L-3 in major industrial engineering and construction projects at their Greenville location.
