COMMERCE, Texas -- The Texas A&M University-Commerce Planetarium is pleased to present "The Planets" beginning Friday, July 10, at 7 p.m. Presented in the style of a game show, viewers will be able to test their knowledge about each of the eight planets in our solar system along with Pluto.
The audience will find themselves transported from planet to planet, immersed in spectacularly different environments. The show has enough facts and concepts to provide a real educational value as well as being a fun adventure for the entire family.
"The Planets" will be presented on Friday nights from July 10 through Sept. 18 for the 7 p.m. show along with the current show, "Two Small Pieces of Glass," which will be presented at 8 p.m.
At the end of July, the 8 p.m. show will be changed to "Stars of the Pharaohs." This show made its debut in 2006 when the A&M-Commerce Planetarium first opened. Planetarium director Dr. Kent Montgomery states, "Stars of the Pharaohs" has been one of our all-time favorite shows. It is very well written with outstanding images of ancient temples and pyramids."
"Stars of the Pharaohs" will be shown at 8 p.m. beginning Friday, July 31, and be available through Sept. 11.
The planetarium will also continue to offer Wednesday afternoon matinees at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. through Aug. 12. The 1 p.m.
show is one of our children's shows and the 2 p.m. show is one of our favorite shows replayed again. Check our website below for the exact show schedule. All tickets for matinees are $3 per person.
Regular planetarium shows are presented each Friday night at
7 and 8 p.m. Tickets for adults are $4 per person, A&M Commerce faculty/staff are $3.50, senior citizens are $3.50, and students or children are $3.
