Our commissioner, Beth Wisenbaker, called this morning and wanted me to let everyone know that Precinct 1 compound on Highway 19 will be open until Friday, the 24th, at 5:30 p.m. She is extending the date for our county clean up. The rain may have kept some of us from cleaning up. They will accept anything but tires or hazardous materials.

Last Saturday, the Brashear Baptist Church held their annual Fish Fry for their Youth Summer Camp. The Fish Fry was a great success and everyone also enjoyed the concert by Psalm 100.

Haven’t the rains been delightful? You better be careful because the grass, flowers, and gardens are going to take off. Have you heard the one about the neighbor with a garden? Everyone was told to be weary if they saw them coming, for they were known to throw squash at any open window. That’s looks like what may happen here in Brashear, every seed Tom planted is coming up. Be sure to watch our road, Tom puts out produce for anyone to stop by and purchase whatever is in season.

We just returned from the RSVP 5th Annual Recognition Dinner and it was great. You do not realize that a lot of things that happen here in our county are connected to RSVP. The food was good, the music was excellent, and the company was great too. Humana and the Visiting Angels also supplied door prizes. A great time was had by all and some very deserving people were recognized for their hard work around Hopkins County. So just to let you know, anyone can volunteer and get involved so check out all of the opportunities around our community. Work at Heritage Park, the hospital and Meal-A-Day; driving or cooking, qualify as volunteer efforts around, there may be a lot more just call the Senior Citizen Center for information.

I have heard the Plant Swap went on as planned. I didn’t make it because I decided the rain would run them off. Not so. Well, I hope to set up a Plant Swap here in Brashear around May 9. But it on your calendar, hope to see you up town to trade and swap. Take care for the Good Lord is watching out for all of us. Until next week, enjoy each day to the fullest.
