From staff reports
HALLSVILLE — The first day of the District 13-4A track meet at Bobcat Stadium was not kind to Sulphur Springs athletes.
Wildcat athlete Bryant (Day Day) Jackson was third in the high jump at 21-1 for one of the few highlights of Sulphur Springs.
“I expected Day Day (Jackson) to do well in that event, so he is going to regional. We also hope that he will make it triple jump. Maybe Shane McQueen will make it in the hurdles,” said Sulphur Springs head coach Greg Owens.
“We had some other ones get close and not make it, Garrett Ferguson was fourth in the pole vault at 12-6 and narrowly missed going, he had cleared 13-feet in practice,” Owens said.
The coach continued, “We are running hard, competing well. Some of the teams in this district are very talented. You have some real elite athletes running in this field. We will finish up the finals today and see how it works out.”
