The North Hopkins Panthers took a 12-2 win over Miller Grove in recent baseball action.
Paco Castro was the winning pitcher, going five innings allowing two runs off three hits, striking out 10.
Top hitters include: Lorenzo Rivera, 2-for-3 with a double and single, four RBIs; Dillon Mitchell, 2-for-2, three RBIs; Brandon Joslin, 2-for-3, a double and a single, two RBIs; Castro and Canyon Cockrum had one hit each.
Chastin Smiddy of North Hopkins won a pitcher's duel as she struck out 10 in seven innings as the Lady Panthers edged Cumby, 2-1 in recent 12-A softball play.
Lindsey Lemon pitched well for the Lady Trojans fanning nine and allowing two runs on six hits.
The game-winning hit was a double by Jessica Harry with a knocked in the go ahead run.
Harry and Courtney Loper had one hit and one RBI each in the close contest. Other players getting hits for North Hopkins were Crissy Hall, Liz Shaw and Smiddy.
Cristen Slaughter was 1-for-3 and knocked in the only run for Cumby. Also getting hits for the Lady Trojans were Courtney Steward, Cristen Slaughter, Whitney Webb and Kailee Sartin.
Tana Hall and Crissy Hall of North Hopkins were credited with standout defensive plays. On the Cumby side of the diamond, short stop Brittany Seeley had five assists.
The Saltillo Lady Lions scored at least three runs in each of the first five frames as they hammered Campbell 18-1 in district softball play Tuesday.
Taryn Simmons was the winning pitcher, going three innings, allowing one run off two hits, striking out two.

The Lady Lions are 6-1 in district and face North Hopkins Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Cumby takes two
The Miller Grove Hornets fell at home Friday by a 23-1 score against the rampaging Cumby Trojans in 17-A baseball action.
Sophomore pitcher Donnie Rodriquez was the winning pitcher for Cumby. Also seeing work were Stetson Speights and Tanner Gomez.
The Trojans had a 21-hit attack highlighted by cleanup hitter Jason Wallace's two-run home in the 15-run fourth inning. Wallace also had a single and a double. Tim Cook, Taylor Gay and Ryan Vaughan all had three hits each; Vaughan had three RBIs as did designated hitter C.J. Ringenberg.
The Trojans used the strong pitching of Cook to take 10-0 home win over Campbell Tuesday. Cook had 15 strikeouts and walked two in his no-hitter.
The game was halted after six runs on the 10-run rule.
"Cookie was very effective. Two comebackers to the mound were the only balls put in play off him, even when he got behind hitters, he would bare down and get positive results," Cumby baseball coach Scott Mabe said. "He really threw the ball well."
Gomez and Rodriguez had two hits each. Cook went 2-for-3 at the dish with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Cumby is 9-7 overall, 6-2 in district play. The Trojans will host Martins Mills at 4:30 p.m. Friday in a non-district game. The next district game is at North Hopkins April 21 for a matchup with the Panthers.
